Contractor J. Hoondert & Zn. from 's-Heerenhoek was looking for a multi-functional machine for their reclamation terminal in Flushing-East. This quest was succesfully completed with the purchase of a Komatsu PC600LC-6; equiped with an E-CraneT boom and stick combination and hydraulically operated cabriser.

The boom has been specifically designed for bulkmaterial handling. This in combination with an additional counterweight of 12 tons (13.2 Ustons), mounted underneath the carbody, results in substantially improved liftcapacities and an increased outreach. The hydraulically adjustable cab allows for a range of 3 to 5.8 meters to accomodate better visibility and a safer working environment.

This bulk handling machine is specially designed for a wide range of operation and is still transportable in one piece without special permits. This gives an additional opportunity to economically use the material handler at different locations. The MH600 will be used at Hoonderts reclamation terminal. This type of terminal is specially suited for dealing with the storage of environmentally hazardous materials. The MH-600 series will be capable of stockpiling materials at 15 meters, thus efficiently utilizing the available terminal space. In the harbour of Flushing this eyecatching piece of equipment will also be used for ship to barge direct transfer or vice versa. In this application the machine will operate from Hoonderts existing equipment barge.
